<p>The University of North Texas is officially the proud higher education partner of Texas Motor Speedway, UNT President Neal Smatresk announced Wednesday (Nov. 1).</p>

<p>New research has astronomers believing that most stars outside of the solar system have one or more planets orbiting them called extrasolar planets – or exoplanets – some of which could potentially harbor life. The Kepler space telescope has had great success in detecting exoplanets by measuring the dip in light of a planet’s host star as the planet passes in front of it. But, can a properly trained amateur astronomer also detect such transits? </p>

<p>NASCAR’s Austin Dillon will unveil 2018 Winter Olympics paint scheme ahead of Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 and take part in “Science of Speed” panel discussion with UNT students in honor of a new higher education partnership between the <a href="https://www.unt.edu/">University of North Texas</a> and <a href="http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/">Texas Motor Speedway</a>.</p>

<p>In the photograph “Insight,” the eye of University of North Texas graduate student Trinity Kai peers from a bundle of fabric, looking straight at the viewer. That photo represents many things to Kai. It touches upon her philosophy of life. It was shot from a lensless camera that she prefers for its craftsmanship. And it won her the $20,000 grand prize from the VSA Emerging Young Artists Competition, a contest devoted to people with disabilities.</p>

<p>No appointments are necessary for the screenings, which will be for both adults and children ages 12 months and older and take no more than 20 minutes.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.unt.edu/">University of North Texas’s</a> <a href="http://international.unt.edu/ieli/intensive-english-language-institute">... English Language Institute</a> is celebrating its 40^th anniversary this year. </p>

<p>The Speech and Hearing Center offers individual therapy for children who have delays in reading, writing and other language-literacy skills.</p>

<p>The research has initially focused on gathering places where residents of Aransas, Nueches and Refugio counties have found resources and emotional support as their communities recover from Harvey's destruction.</p>
